ACTIVITIES’ DAY Grammar girls get sports active

Fitness workshop and dance experience

Youngsters at Hamilton Grammar School participat­ed in a range of workshops as part of Active Girls’ Day last Friday.

The event took place as part of Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week.

Co-ordinated by the Scottish Government, it aims to increase participat­ion in sport and physical activity among women and girls.

A school spokeswoma­n said: “We would like to make a special thanks to Fiona Robertson – a Commonweal­th athlete – for leading our girls through a fantastic fitness workshop.

“Our dance leaders, Caroline and Jodie, from West College Scotland also delivered an incredible dance experience for our pupils.

“Thank you also to South Lanarkshir­e Leisure and Culture for providing a free fitness pass to all pupils who took part.

“As a community, we are eager to enhance the number opportunit­ies for girls and young women in PE, sport and physical activity.”

Active Girls’ Day is a chance to celebrate all the amazing work that goes on across the country.

Events are held in schools across Scotland and 120 second-year girls at Hamilton Grammar participat­ed in netball, dance, fitness, a body image workshop workshop.
