Terminal One Lottery grant

Study will look at centre’s future

- Leona Greenan

A youth group in Blantyre earned a share in a £737k National Lottery fund.

Blantyre Youth Development Team has been awarded £6062 to explore how the group’s Terminal One centre could be developed as a community-owned asset.

The group is run by the Terminal One youth centre in Blantyre with a management committee of young people from the surrounding area.

The centre has been threatened with closure, with service users and staff fighting to keep the local amenity alive.

This grant was one of 98 cash handouts shared between community and arts and sports groups across Scotland.

A lottery spokesperson said: “This is National Lottery money reaching into communities across Scotland, making a real difference to the people who live there.

“Each of the 98 groups receiving a total of £737,262 today are fantastic examples of the range of projects that this small grants programme can fund. It’s also clear that the smallest amounts of money can make a big difference.“

National Lottery Awards for All Scotland award grants to community, arts and sports groups on behalf of Big Lottery Fund, Creative Scotland and sportscotland.
