Fantastic five to represent Scotland

-

Hamilton Gymnastics Club’s new gym in Blantyre Industrial Estate seems to be doing the trick, after the artistic section racked up a massive haul of medals.

At the recent Scottish Gymnastics Men’s Artistic Regional Qualifiers, the club brought home a haul of silverware.

Youngsters Douglas Livingstone, Paul Rough, Lucas Duguid, Rory Dalziel and Ryan Nicholson made great progress in the floor and vault competition.

In the Grades competition, Pre Level 1, Riley Stoddart finished sixth overall. In Club Grade Level 1, Cameron Falconer came 1st, Aaron Gregory finished second and Jak Weir finished fourth.

All three boys plus Caiden-jay Malone also won gold in the team competition.

In Club Grade Level 2, Casey Flynn took the gold medal. Andrew Dickie finished second in Level 3.

And in Level 4, Tom Beattie finished seventh.

As a result, Cameron Falconer, Aaron Gregory, Jak Weir, Casey Flynn and Andrew Dickie have all been selected to represent Scotland at the British finals in November.

Men’s coach Shona Grigor said: “We are over the moon with how the boys performed in both the floor and vault competition, and the regional qualifiers.

“Having five boys from the club qualify to represent Scotland against the best in the UK is a fantastic achievement.”
