Ghosthunter David shares his most hair-raising experiences in new book

-

A paranormal investigator from Hamilton has penned a book on his experiences.

David Barrett became fascinated in the paranormal at an early age, and has continued to study in the field over the years.

As reported in the Advertiser last year, David was part of the Project Paranormal team which took part in a televised investigation at the Applebank Inn in Larkhall.

He was joined by demonologist Ian Ainsley, as well as a medium and sceptic to carry out a range of experiments and tests at the bar.

The show rocketed into the top 10 most watched programmes on the Showcase channel when it aired, with the local episode focusing on the Black Lady of Larkhall.

David’s other adventures in the field have taken him to diverse locations such as Scotland’s Secret Bunker, Inveraray Jail and Carnsalloch House in Scotland; Newsham Park Hospital, The National Emergency Services Museum and Shrieve’s House in England; Leap Castle in Ireland and Castle Bran, aka Dracula’s Castle in Transylvania.

Since the Project Paranormal show aired, he has continued working with Ian and on his book, My Life As A Scottish Paranormal Investigator, which was released recently through Amazon on Kindle and paperback.

David said:“since we investigated the Applebank Inn, myself and Ian have separated from the rest of the team, and have gone back to being a team ourselves, which is how it was originally.

“We have continued to investigate, and have also started to collect alleged haunted items.

“I had been talking to a friend who is also an investigator, who has written a book, and he suggested that I should look into writing a book and detail my experiences. He then put me in touch with a publisher and we decided to give it a go.”

David describes a number of experiences in his book, but cites Carnsalloch House, a dilapidated historic mansion in Dumfries, as one of his most interesting encounters.

He explained:“for us as a team, Carnsalloch House is probably one of the most sinister of locations we have ever investigated.

“The old mansion house dates back to the 14th century and has been used as a care home.

“We have investigated here a few times and the catches are always intelligent.

“Words like‘cut throat’and ‘demon’had been caught through the spirit boxes.”

David’s book can be found to purchase in paperback and for the Kindle on Amazon.
