Our week of eco fun

Festive cafeat church

The pupils of St Joseph’s Primary School and Nursery Class in Blantyre enjoyed a full fun-packed eco week recently.

Some of the week’s activities included a sponsored‘wellie Walk’, a gardening day, a lunchtime eco quiz and recycling old clothes with Ragbag.

The whole school also took part in the‘big Breakfast’event. The ‘Big Breakfast’is a Scottish Government Initiative delivered by the Healthy Living Team.

All of the pupils, staff and nursery class enjoyed tasting a selection of healthy and tasty breakfast options including porridge, toast with various toppings as well as a wide selection of fresh fruit.

The week was concluded with a showcase eco assembly where all classes shared the research and learning that had taken place in their class during the week. The finale of the showcase assembly was a recycled clothing fashion show performed by some P4 pupils.

A school spokeswoma­n said:“all pupils agreed their eco week was fantastic

where they learned how to be even more eco friendly than they already are.

“Well done to everyone involved.” Blantyre Old Parish Church will hold their Christmas Cafe on Saturday, December 2 in the church hall.

The event begins at 2pm with adult entry costing £2 for adults and includes tea/ coffee, shortbread and mice pies. Child’s entry is £1 and includes a gift from Santa.

Stalls include the everpopula­r bottle stall, face painting, balloons, Christmas gifts, hot chocolate and more. All welcome. Any donations for the bottle stall and can be put in a box at the front of the church each Sunday in the run up to the event.
