Milton view Don’t let mausoleum die
Dear Editor Following the coverage of Hamilton Mausoleum in last week’s paper, I think it should be on a top ten list of buildings in Scotland which are prioritised either by local, regional, or national funding to preserve as immaculate.
The council have no excuse on this matter and it is an insulting crime of culture upon an artful masterpiece and one culturally embedded with the development of our nation being linked to Scotland’s premier family.
They must fix it and turn it into an enduring visitor attraction which will pay for itself.
Chris Ladds, via Facebook Dear Editor, I would like to highlight the alarming condition of Hamilton Mausoleum, its stone work inside and out is being seriously effected by water seeping through the 15ft thick wall and there are trees growing out of the stonework.
It would appear that this is due to block rainwater drains from the roof, South Lanarkshire Council have been aware of this for the past two years, and refused to fix this major problem of this historic listed building, and a which is in ownership of the council.
The building was open last weekend and is now closed until February 2018 i.e. forgotten about, with still blocked drains. It is time this situation is brought to the Lanarkshire people notice.
Robert Reid via Facebook. Bin-gate rumbles on and readers flocked to our Facebook page to air their views on the latest developments in North Lanarkshire. We revealed that Police Scotland could be called in to investigate the botched waste collection scheme.
Council are playing a massive role in the problem as they red tagged a huge percentage of bins and failed to empty them last week for the silliest of things because they didn’t give us the proper information to start with.
The list of what goes in what bin should be more extensive not 4-5 things. Residents are going to get so annoyed they are on the verge of going to stop recycling altogether. I know countless people who feel the same.

Good. Those responsible for this should be sacked too.
Each one should then be barred from ever sitting in public office again.
They said bin collections would not go to every three weeks.
Then when they changed their minds they failed to prepare properly which led to them presiding over this fiasco.”
Tony Tucker
I missed the whole put all your bins out as I was on holiday and it was supposed to be done the first week of the month.
Still have three full, never been touched yet and had two red tags so far as it’s the wrong stuff in them.”
So I know and so does the council because I’ve emailed 10283729 times.

I’m giving up on the bins, throwing it into the car and taking to skip as this will totally screw up their landfill directive.
Before I get accused of destroying the environment I’m all for recycling but this has become a bin lottery to get your bins emptied or not.

It’s not the bin mens fault they are only doing what they are asked to do, or they wont have a wage simple as that.
It’s the big fat cats not the bin men.
Catherine Morgan
Still no bags, brown bin has been out for nearly two weeks.
Grass and foodstuff in it covered in flies.
I’m not bringing it back in my gate, it can stay out in the car park.
