Greg Docherty was delighted to play his part as Hamilton beat Dundee 3-1 on Saturday – because now he has happy memories of Dens Park.

Midfielder Docherty was substituted at half-time after Dundee had raced into a 4-0 win on December 19, 2015, and admits that was a sore one for him to take.

Since then Hamilton are unbeaten in four visits to Dens, winning three and drawing one.

Docherty played a major role in setting up Antonio Rojano’s first Accies goal to end the game as a contest at 3-1, despite being down to 10 men following Massimo Donati’s earlier dismissal.

The win gave Accies their first win in nine games since downing Hibs at Easter Road on August 19 and Docherty said: “That was huge. Psychologically that’s massive. Against Dundee in the past we’ve not been so good and they’ve got the better of us.

“I remember a game a couple of years ago, we were 4-0 down here at half-time, I got taken off at half-time and that was a sore one, so it’s nice to come back here and now have good memories of this place.

“The win was more than deserved. That was a game in which we took the lead and were on the front-foot. We’ve been clincal, and long may that continue. “It was such a close game and it’s a good one for us to come out on top in. We needed something like that to swing our way, it has done, and I think it was fully deserved.

“Dundee tried to play, I think in the first
