Long-serving nurses in the spotlight
The Marie Curie Lanarkshire Nursing Team celebrated a host of long-service awards at their team meeting in Hamilton.
Around 50 nurses care for people living with a terminal illness, and their families, from 10pm until 7am in their own homes.
And they gathered in Udston Hospital for the presentation ceremony.
Hazel Graham, who was presented with her 20-year long service award, said: “For me, being a Marie Curie nurse is an absolute privilege. I enjoy it as much now as I did 20 years ago.”
The awards were presented by Marie Young, clinical nurse manager for Lanarkshire, and Georgia Ramplin, community fundraiser at Marie Curie.
Patricia Martin and Lee Thomson were given five-year awards.
The ten-year awards were presented to Carol Thomson, Jan Cochrane, Helen Mcquillan, Rosina Mclaughlan, Dawn Mcintyre, Mary Mccann, Margaret Lennon, Norma Jackson, Loretta Jackson, Pamela Love, Janice Kennedy and Sharon Clark.
And 15-year awards were presented to Geraldine Mckeever, Lorna Mcgarry and Ellen Chalmers.
Georgia Ramplin said: “I’d like to say a huge congratulations to all of the nurses who received their long-service awards. Without their dedication and hard work, we simply wouldn’t be able to care for people in Lanarkshire who are living with a terminal illness.
“I hope to present more long service awards in the near future”.
She added: “Supporting Marie Curie is simple. We offer a huge range of fundraising opportunities: marathons, walks, cycles, bake sales, sponsored events, school challenges and much more.
