Hamilton Baptist Church The morning service on Sunday, November 26, at 10.45am will be led by the senior pastor, David Wilson.

After the morning service, two members of the congregati­on will be available to pray with anyone feeling the need of prayer. Light refreshmen­ts will be served in the halls after the morning service and everyone is encouraged to join in this time of informal fellowship. The evening service at 6.30pm will be a youthorien­ted Soul Service and will be led by the Youth Pastor, Jonathan Davie.

Members of South Lanarkshir­e Council involved in a project which encourages exercise for the elderly will be the guests at the Senior Citizens’ Meetings on Monday, November 27, at 2pm to 3pm. The Ladies’ Time Out Christmas dinner will be held on Tuesday, December 5, and the Men’s Fellowship Christmas dinner will be held on Tuesday, December 12. The church has opened a Youtube Channel which will be showing both live and recorded morning church services.

Hamilton Old Parish Church

On Sunday we celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion at our morning service at 10.45am and at our evening service at 6.30pm. Worship will be led by Rev Ross Blackman. Creche and Sunday Live! for our younger members during the morning service. Enjoy fellowship over a tea or coffee following the service over in the halls.

Today, Thursday, our 1970 Ladies’ Club meet at 1.30pm in the session room. Our Monday Club look forward to their Christmas lunch at 12.30pm for 1pm this coming Monday. In the evening we have the badminton club at 7pm and Saffronhal­l Singers at 7.30pm.

On Tuesday the Brownies look forward to their visit to the pantomime with the decoupage group meeting at 1pm and the Old Kirk Dancers at 7.45pm. All sections of the Boys’ Brigade meet from 5.30pm on Wednesday evening and the choir then meet at 7pm.

Hamilton Old Parish Church will be opened from 10am until 2pm on Saturday, November 25, for the National Day of Prayer.

St Machan’s Church

Worship on Sunday, November 26, starts at 11am and will be led by Rev Alastair Mckillop. The Praise Band will lead the singing. A creche is available for babies and children up to three years and this runs from 10.45am.

The Sunday fun club runs from 11am in the church hall. This is an hour of fun for children from three years to 11 years. The older children have their own programme to follow whilst the younger ones have crafts, songs, stories and a short film. Come and join us, you will be made most welcome.

The St Machan’s Walking Group will meet on Tuesday, November 28, at 10.30am behind the church in Marshall Street. The senior friendship circle will meet on the same day at 2pm in the guild room. The guest speaker is John Milligan who will be giving a talk on some of the history of the Larkhall railway.

On Tuesday, November 28, genesis youth club will meet for the first session of the season. Enrolment will be held at 7.30pm in the church hall. The club is for young people aged between 11 and 15 years of age. The programme for the year includes games nights, guest speakers, quiz nights, ten pin bowling, barbecue and genesis got talent. The youth club meets on every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from August until May at 7.30pm in the church hall. Entry is by the back entrance to the church. Come along with your friends, have some fun and make new friends.

St John The Baptist Church, Uddingston

Fr Towey thanks Dana most sincerely for leading the singing at the Fatima Centenary Celebratio­n last Monday evening.

A service for the faithful departed will be held in Bothwellha­ugh Cemetery this Sunday, November 25, at 2pm and at Bothwell Park Cemetery at 3pm.

The next Baptismal Talk for parents and sponsors is on Monday, December 4, at 7.30pm in the small hall.

Some places are available for the June 13, August 29 and 30, 2018, pilgrimage­s to Medjugorje and a deposit of £100 is required. The cost is £599 per person for dinner, bed and breakfast, staying at Grace Hotel for one week. One place is available for our Rome pilgrimage on May 14, 2018.

On Monday the padre pio prayer group meet after the 9.30am mass. The SVDP meet at 6.30pm on Tuesdays, the RCIA meet at 7.30pm in the small hall and a silent prayer vigil for life is held from 8pm to 9pm. On Wednesdays a divine mercy hour begins at 7pm in the oratory and a prayer and praise group from 8pm-9pm. The prayer garden is open Mondays to Saturdays 10am4pm. Church cleaning is on Friday mornings after mass if anyone would like to help.

Sunday Masses: vigil 4.30pm, 10am, noon, 6pm. Weekday Mass: 9.30am daily. Confession­s: Saturday 9am9.25am and after vigil mass.

Harvest Christian Fellowship

We meet every Sunday at Hillhouse community centre at 10.30am. The service this Sunday will be led by Pastor Willie Watt and will be followed by refreshmen­ts. Our kids’ club Monday Club for children of primary school age kicks off at 7pm every Monday. Alpha continues on a Thursday evening at 6.30pm.

Coming up on Saturday, December 2, is our Christmas Oasis cafe. There will be a free brunch, Christmas crafts, Santa, music and pampering for the ladies. Why not come along and bring a friend?

Tickets are now available for the ladies Christmas afternoon tea at the Avonbridge Hotel, also on December 2, at 2pm. There will be craft stalls so an opportunit­y to do some Christmas shopping that day also.

Gilmour and Whitehill Church

Our next service is Sunday, November 26 (Stir Up Sunday), and will be conducted by Rev Alasdair Gordon interim moderator of the linked charge. A warm welcome is assured why not come along at 10am. Our outreach team will join with the residents of Aberglen Care Home for a short service of worship at 2pm. The Lyndale Club meets Tuesday, November 28, at 7.30pm when the guest speaker will be Rev Alasdair Gordon.

Once again we open our doors to welcome the YOD Club on Wednesday, November 29, between 10 and noon and The Memories Tea Room on Thursday, November 30, between 12.30 and 3pm. We are busily preparing for our Christmas Fair which will be held on Saturday, December 2.

St John’s Church Hamilton

Morning Worship at St John’s Church Hamilton will be led by Very Rev Bill Hewitt at 10.45am on Sunday, November 26. A crèche is available for younger children while older children attend Sunday blast. The evening service will be held at 6.30pm. All will be made most welcome at either service.

Thanks to all who contribute­d and attended the guild coffee morning on Saturday, November 18, the total raised was £1090.

The Midweek Service which lasts 15-20 minutes will be held in the church sanctuary at 12.15pm on Thursday, November 23, and in the evening at 7pm a presbytery setting apart service for Lorna Fyfe to become a reader will be held.

St John’s Centre, Book Corner and Chapel open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.

Blantyre Old Church

Worship on Sunday will be led by Sarah Ross at 11am, all welcome. Sunday club meet as usual. Refreshmen­ts will be served in the hall following the service.

The Guild meet tonight (Thursday) in the large hall at 7.15pm when speaker Robert Nimmo will tell the tale of sister Mary’s revenge. Next week is the guild’s Christmas social. A reminder for members to bring along a £3 Santa gift and there will be a prize for the best table decoration, so be creative. Don’t have too much dinner before you come as this is a party and it wouldn’t be a party without something to eat.

Saturday, November 25, is National Day of Prayer for the Church of Scotland, day of prayer with events across the Church of Scotland. Hamilton Old is open for prayer from 10am-2pm and Blantyre Old from 2pm-4pm with prayers shared on the hour/half hour in both locations. Welcome to attend either or both.

On Monday, November 27, the leisure group meet at 1.45pm and this week will be entertaine­d by Sharon Day. Believe series continues on Monday at 8pm in the session room. Believe by Randy Frazee (American) is a 30-session course but you do it in 10-week blocks. Due to Christmas we are doing four before and six after Christmas.

Parish Magazine: The next edition will be printed at the end of November so send items to Jim Dunsmore or Mary Gallagher or place them in the box in the vestibule asap.

On Friday, December 1, at 7pm, our annual service of reflection and remembranc­e will be held in the church.

On Saturday, December 2, the Christmas Cafe is at 2pm. Tickets are now available. Donations for the bottle stall and toiletries gratefully received.

Messy Church meet on Monday, December 4, at 6pm in the large hall.

Blantyre Congregati­onal Church

On Friday evening the Junior section of 2nd Blantyre Boys’ Brigade meet at 6.15pm, with the company section following at 7.45pm. On Saturday, November 25, we meet at 1pm at the church to travel to Motherwell for the panto ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.

On Sunday morning our worship will be led by our minister Reverend Malcolm J Anderson and will start at 11am with our Sunday School ‘The Ark’ meeting in the church hall to begin rehearsals for the retelling of the nativity story.

On Monday, November 27, our ladies’ group the new comers meet in the church hall at 7.30pm with an invited guest speaker followed by tea, coffee and biscuits.

On Tuesday evening at 7pm our singing group ‘The Voice’ meet within the sanctuary of the church, with any singing enthusiast­s welcomed to attend on that evening.

On Wednesday our Anchor Boys return and meet in the church hall from 6.30pm. Also on Wednesday at 7pm, there is a deacons’ meeting.

On Saturday, December 2, our Christmas fair will take place from 10.30am-12.30pm, tickets priced £2 or pay at the door.

Hamilton West Parish Church

Our next service will be held on Sunday, November 26, at 11.30 am and will be led by our interim moderator the Rev Alasdair Gordon. This is the last service of the Christian year, and Advent begins the following week. A thank you to the children of the West and Gilmour & Whitehill for taking part in our last service when all the shoe boxes except for two were dedicated by the minister. The last two were filled by the Sunday schools having a treasure hunt in the church and collect enough items to fill the shoeboxes which caused great hilarity.

Dalserf Church

Our Boys’ Brigade meet this evening in Rorison Church Ashgill and again on Thursday, November 30. Guild Christmas Fair will be held in Hamilton Hall, Dalserf on Saturday, November 25, from 11.30am-3pm. Sunday Worship on November 26, will take place in Dalserf Church 11.30am conducted by the Rev John Stevenson. The new CH4 Hymn Books will be dedicated at this service. Choir will meet at 10.15am at Dalserf. Tea, coffee and soup will be served after the service. Bible study group will meet on Monday, November 27, at 11am in Hamilton Hall. Girls’ Brigade meets in Rorison Church, Ashgill on Monday, November 27. Boys’ Brigade will meet on Thursday, November 30,in Rorison. On December 3, a carol night will take place In Dalserf led by Philip Fox and the Newlife Singers. Guild Christmas sing-a-long with Kenny Mason and Friends on Wednesday, December 13, in Rorison at 7pm. Cost £5. Tickets available from guild members.

Hamilton United Reformed Church

On Sunday, November 26, our service will begin at 11.30am, and be led by Revd Lindsey Sanderson, Minister of Hamilton and East Kilbride URC Pastorate. Liz Blackman,hamilton Old Parish, will give a short talk about next year’s Passion Play to be held in the town.
