2017 has been the year Brexit dominated our news headlines

-

It was the year that saw two elections: Local Government and of course a Snap General Election.

It also saw the SNP produce an ambitious Programme for Government ‘A Nation With Ambition’, which sets out how we continue to take Scotland on her journey to becoming an even more fair and equal nation. And Brexit. Of course, Brexit continues to make the headlines as we career towards the cliff with no knowledge of what is over that edge.

Locally, I’ve been continuing to work for the people of Uddingston and Bellshill each and everyday as your MSP being a privilege and a welcome challenge.

Each day in my Constituency Office at 188 Main Street in Bellshill, my team are available to help with any enquiries that you may have - be that to act as a signpost to other services or to take up your issue with the relevant departments.

I have worked to make sure that our office is as open and accessible as possible and I hope to continue that into the New Year.

Whilst speaking about the office, it shall re-open on Monday, January 8, 2018, and my 2018 surgeries shall be underway too.

If you have an urgent enquiry during the Christmas period then please email Richard.lyle. Msp@parliament.scot or call 01698 479900 and one of the team will endeavour to assist.

Christmas is always a special time of year and I look forward to it immensely.

For me - it’s a time where I get a chance to spend quality time with my grandchildren and children.

Making memories with friends and family and celebrating the year together.

But whilst it is a time of year to be with those around us, it is so important that we remember that there are neighbours and people around us - who don’t have someone to celebrate Christmas with them.

So this Christmas, I’d ask that we all take a moment to knock on the door of a neighbour and say hello and be sure to think of those around us.

This year has had its many moments of note and I am in no doubt that 2018 will have just as many in the days ahead

So from me and my family, to you and yours - have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

Until next year!

I’d ask we all take a moment to knock on the door of a neighbour and say hello and think of those around us . . .
