Daz: We fought for win

-

Darian Mackinnon says Saturday’s 3-2 win over Ross County proves that there’s a different mentality at Hamilton Accies.

The midfielder says the drive and determination to take three points was visible, in a game they might previously have drawn or lost.

Daz says Ioannis Skondras was stupid to get himself sent off following a touchline bust-up, but says he will know not to do that again.

He said:“it was good to get the three points, especially after losing the lead.

“I thought, on the balance of play, that we might not have deserved it, but for the character and courage shown from us to keep going, I’ll take it.

“When they pulled it back to 2-2 you were thinking‘here we go again’but on this wee run we’ve been on we have a different mentality. We’ve gone for a game, not sat back and took a point; we’ve gone for the winner, and it proved to be the case.

“I emphasised after the Celtic game that it would have been great to get something from there, but the County game was the one we had to win, and we managed to do that.”

On Skondras, Daz said:“you don’t mind a bit of needle but you don’t want to be raising your hands and drawing attention to the club.

“I’m not going to have a go at Ioannis because it’s heat of the moment stuff – we’ve all been there – but we don’t want to see it again.”
