‘Thanks for helping us make it happen’
The organisers behind social events and children’s activities at the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Park have thanked supporters for their help throughout 2017.
The Friends of Stonehouse Park (FOSP) group holds a wide range of events at the park, such as the Little Saplings play dates, teddy bear picnics, the ever-popular Halloween Fright Night and the recent Winter Elves and Snowmen Day.
They also take part in a number of volunteering dates throughout the year in a bid to keep the park in tip-top shape.
And the group have thanked a wider circle of volunteers and supporters for their assistance throughout the year.
FOSP’S Karen Kennedy said: “On behalf of all the committee – David, Debbie, Emily, Donald, Nicola, Isobel, Junia, Richard, Catherine, myself and our on the day helpers – I’d like to say a huge thank you to all the community who have supported our events over the past year.
“In the last three years we really have went from strength to strength, and that’s also thanks to our past committee members.
“This coming year we plan to continue with our schedule of events and in the new financial year our bids will be going in for contractors to begin actioning the feasibility study.
“Thanks also to our friends at Outlet Play Resource, South Lanarkshire Council, the Clyde and Avon Valley Partnership, and Clydesdale Community Initiatives for their support.
“Who knew three-plus years ago we would have gained such a great wee team of community-minded people and new friends. There really is exciting stuff on the horizon. “Best wishes to you all for 2018!” The feasibility study was wrapped up last year after months of community consultation and public interest.
The FOSP committee hope to initially look at developments in the woodland areas, and latterly the formal park, with improvements to equipment and facilities.
