The countdown has begun to Larkhall Gala Day with preparations for the event in full swing.
Following on from the success of the town’s day held in May last year, the gala committee are delighted to announce they will be doing it all over again.
The new date has been set for Saturday, May 19, and the committee are already kickstarting their fundraising.
Entries are already underway for those who want to take part in the parade and those who want to enter floats. For further information and to enter, email: larkhallgaladay@yahoo.com.
Larkhall Gala Day committee posted on their Facebook page: “We have also had a few entries for those taking part in the best dressed house competition.
“We are so excited that people are already buzzing for the gala day and please be assured we have lots of new ideas to keep you all entertained, and we ask you all to pray for sunshine from now until then.
“Also remember to keep an eye on our events section as we will continue to update it with everything we have coming up.
“We need your help and support to raise funds to make this gala possible. If you would like to sponsor a part of our gala please send us a message and we will send you a breakdown of costs...every little helps!
“A reminder that all adverts should be emailed before the end of February for the programme.”
The committee are set to host their next public meeting which will take place in The Applebank Inn.
All are welcome to join and pass on their ideas.
The group’s main focus for the day is securing volunteers to help out on the day.
Last year’s gala day was held in May and was a first in the town for years.
Families across Larkhall turned out to show their support and the even was hailed a huge success.
Schools and nurseries took part in the fancy dress parade in a bid to bring back the traditional event to the town.
Businesses got into the spirit of the day by decorating their windows, while residents were delighted to take part in the fun and decorate the outside of their homes.
But it was the 101 Dalmatians entry that caught the eye of the judges at Montgomery Place in the town to take first place.
There were prizes for the best dressed float and on the day Larkhall singer Angel Gold entertained the crowd.
