Volunteers at work on upgrading park
Come along and help environmental projects
Stefanie Mccourt Volunteers are being sought to help keep Stonehouse Park looking its best.
The Clyde and Avon Valley Landscape Partnership (CAVLP) plays a crucial role in conserving and celebrating Lanarkshire’s local landscapes and culture heritage.
More than 100 of their volunteers spend thousands of hours a year improving access, researching historic sites, maintaining heritage features, caring for ancient woodland, and a whole lot more activities.
Environmental volunteering at Stonehouse Park takes place on the third Thursday of the month between 10.30am and 2.30pm, the forthcoming dates being January 25, February 22 and March 29.
Volunteers are being urged to join Clydesdale Community Initiatives (CCI), South Lanarkshire Countryside Rangers and the Friends of Stonehouse Park to clear pathways and make new benches.
Kirsten Robb, manager at CAVLP, said: “Local people volunteering with Clyde and Avon Valley projects are making a massive contribution to this wonderful place and can be justifiably proud of what they are achieving.
“The impact is not just on the physical landscape though, volunteers regularly tell us how much they get out of the experience themselves.
“We’d like to thank every single volunteer and encourage more people to start on the volunteering journey.”
All are welcome to volunteer at Stonehouse Park. Participants should wear weather appropriate clothing and footwear. All tools will be provided.
The meeting place is the pavilion 10.15am on the dates above. Contact CCI to book a place or for further details on 01555 664 211 or enquiries@cciweb.org.uk.
