FIRM FAVOURITE

Family, friends and celebrities play Celtic v Rangers game in memory of much-loved Mark

- Kirsten Mcstay

Hundreds turned out to watch a charity ‘Old Firm’ match in memory of a Hamilton dad who passed away last year.

Friends and family of Mark Seymour decided to remember him in a special way by holding a Celtic and Rangers challenge to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

The dad-of-two (pictured right with his son Dylan) was only 34 when he passed away in his sleep.

Mark’s sibling Stephen, who is a massive Rangers fan, decided to organise the match in memory of his big brother. The night before he passed away, Mark played five-a-side football with Stephen and friends – something he loved to do.

And Stephen decided that an ‘Old Firm’ game would be the most fitting tribute to Mark.

He invited along stars from online show GLOW to pull on their football boots alongside Accies legend Jose Quitongo.

Mark’s wife Lianne and children Dylan (3) and Mia (8) also came along to show their support.

Stephen was delighted with how the game went, saying: “I’m overwhelmed with the support from everyone who was involved in the match, from the players to the people in the stands to those who donated and couldn’t be there.

“Thanks to James, Tony and Brian from GLOW for helping to raise the profile of the match and to Jose for participating also.

“A special thanks to my wife Nicola Seymour. Without her hard work off the field, the event would never have gone ahead.

“We don’t have a total figure raised yet but it looks like we will hit the £5000 mark for the British Heart Foundation.”
