Bomb fear in street
Uddingston drama
Detectives are continuing enquiries and appealing for information after two suspicious items were discovered in the same street in Uddingston.
Around 3.55pm on Sunday afternoon and again on Tuesday 10.45am, officers were called to a report of a suspicious item found in a waste bin within a grass area near to houses and also in a close between houses in Myrtle Road.
Police attended and as a precaution some residents were evacuated and the Explosive Ordnance Device (EOD) team were called to attend to examine the item found. They attended and made the item safe.
No-one was injured during this incident.
On Tuesday, the Explosive Ordnance Device (EOD) team was asked to attend and examine the item as a precautionary measure – however the item was not believed to be in a dangerous condition at this time and there was no requirement for anyone to be evacuated.
Detective Inspector Kenny Dalrymple at Wishaw CID said: “Enquiries are ongoing to trace whoever is responsible for leaving this item as well as the item discovered in Myrtle Road on Sunday, February 25, and establish a motive for doing so.
“Anyone who has seen anything suspicious or anyone loitering around the area of Myrtle Road between lunchtime on Sunday, February 25, and 10.45am today, Tuesday, February 27, should contact Wishaw CID via 101 quoting incident number 1490 of 27 February. Alternatively calls can be made via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.”
Enquiries are ongoing to trace whoever is responsible for leaving this item
