Healthier diet sees Ellis drop nearly 2 stones Teenager is an inspiration for group

- Shirley Bartynek

A teenager who shed almost two stones in just a few months no longer worries about his weight.

Ellis Leggat (19) joined a slimming group in November and is now urging others to get behind a month-long healthy food festival.

And he is telling people that slimming down doesn’t mean you have to go hungry.

The teenager joined the Lesmahagow Slimming World group with his mum Lorna and has lost 26 lbs.

He said: “Thanks to the plan and picking up ideas shared by other members in group, I’ve learned loads about food and cooking, and I can still enjoy burgers and chips, spaghetti Bolognese and curries which I like to help my mum make – and I’m never hungry since joining Slimming World.”

His group meets at Lesmahagow Bowling Club and they all took part in Free Food February.

The annual campaign, which is in its fourth year, is named after the healthy ‘Free Food’ its members can enjoy without weighing, counting or measuring when losing weight on Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan.

And the launch party saw Ellis, from Hamilton, named the group’s Young Slimmer of the Year 2018, too.

Members of the group, which is held every Monday and Tuesday, created a delicious feast for the event. The slimmers each brought along a dish made entirely from ‘Free Food’, which includes fruit and vegetables, pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, fish, eggs and more.
