Blantyre Congregati­onal Church

On Friday at 6.15pm the Junior section of our Boys’ Brigade meet, followed by our Company Section at 7.45pm. On Saturday morning our monthly coffee morning is held within our church hall, breakfast is served from 10am. On the day there are various stalls, selling home-baking and hand-made cards.

On Sunday, March 4, our morning worship is led by our minister Reverend Malcolm Anderson. Our service begins at 11am and a warm and friendly welcome is extended to all. During our service the sacrament of communion will be celebrated. Our Sunday School The Ark for primary school children also meet at 11am, for fun, games and learning. After our morning worship there is a vestry time which is by appointmen­t.

On Monday evening the Newcomers Club for ladies meet at 7.30pm within the church hall, with an invited guest speaker. On Tuesday our volunteers are helping within the Hamilton and District Foodbank from 11am-2pm Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

On Tuesday evening our singing group The Voice meet at 7pm within the sanctuary of the church with anyone who enjoys singing warmly welcome to attend.

On Wednesday evening at 6.30pm the Anchor Boys meet within the church hall. If you require the services of our minister Reverend Anderson can be contacted on 01698 427209.

Cadzow Parish Church

The popular rock’n’roll service is back this Sunday, March 4, in the large hall of Cadzow Parish Church, Woodside Walk, at 9.30am. Come along and sing to the praise band and stay for breakfast of cereals, rolls and sausage or bacon,tea, coffee or juice.

If you prefer the traditiona­l service of worship, that will be held in the sanctuary of the church at 10.45am and is followed by tea,coffee and biscuits in the large hall. All are welcome at either (or both) of these services.

Gilmour and Whitehill Parish Church

Our next service will be held on Sunday, March 4, at 10am. Reverend Alasdair Gordon, Interim Moderator of our linked charge will conduct worship.

In the afternoon a number of our elders will join with elders in Hamilton West at 2pm for a training day. The tutor will be Rev Linda Walker MEDDO with Hamilton Presbytery. The Lyndale Club meets Tuesday, March 6, at 7.30pm when John Mcquade will be the speaker. John works as a safety officer with the Scottish Fire Brigade.

The next social event planned by our ways and means committee is a glad rags and handbags evening on Friday, March 16 at 7pm. Tickets are limited so be sure to get yours now. The coffee lounge is normally open Monday-friday between 10am and noon. A warm welcome awaits all.

Blantyre Old Church

The Reverend Sarah Ross will lead us in worship at 11am on Sunday. Sunday Club meet as usual. Refreshmen­ts will be served in the hall following the service.

Tonight (Thursday, March 1) the guild are holding their guest night, when members of local guilds will join them for an evening of entertainm­ent by Cantabile Ensemble. Next week the guild speaker is Rev Lindsay Turnbull who will talk about ‘Guild of Friendship Palestine’.

The leisure group meet on Monday at 1.45pm when they will hear from Lucken Booth. All welcome. The Kettle’s On: A café style space in the large hall on Wednesday, March 7, from 1.30pm- 3pm run by the Pastoral Care Team. A space to break up the week, meet people, chat, find support and enjoy some simple refreshmen­ts. Suggested donation is £2 to help cover catering costs. Open to all. Articles for the Easter edition of the parish magazine should be handed in as soon as possible.

Hamilton South Parish Church

This Sunday’s service will be held at 11.15am. The Sunday School will meet during the service and tea, coffee etc, will be available afterwards. The evening service is at 6.30pm, and will be conducted by the Reverend Ross Blackman. The alpha course meets at 7.30pm. In the morning the Bible study group meet at 9.30am.

On Monday the craft sharing group meet at 10am and the prayer group at 6.30pm. The guild meet at 7.30pm when their AGM takes place. A good turnout is expected.

On Tuesday the adult badminton group meet at 8pm. New members will be made most welcome.

The Wednesday fellowship meets at 9.30am followed by the coffee shop at 10am and the nearly new shop from 11.30am-2pm. In the evening the snowdrops meet at 5.30pm, the Brownies at 6.30pm, and the guides at 7.30pm.

The Bible study group meet on Thursday at 7.30pm. There is a beetle drive on Friday, March 9, at 7pm. Cost is £3. Please support this.

Jean Stewart’s bingo night last week in aid of church funds raised £812.50 and she thanks everyone who supported this. The guild are organising their outing to Cardwell Centre and Largs on May 26. Anyone interested please inform Maureen Livingston­e, secretary.

St John’s Church Hamilton

Our Sunday Service on Sunday, March 4, will be conducted by George Mathieson at 10.45am. The evening service at 6.30pm will be led by Lorna Fyfe, Lay Reader. All will be made most welcome at these services. The Lent discussion group meets at 5.15pm prior to the evening service.

The midweek service will be held in the church sanctuary on Thursday, March 1, at 12.15pm.

St John’s will host the World Day of Prayer service on Friday, March 2, at 7pm. This will be led by Lorna Fyfe. Refreshmen­ts will be served after the service.

Hamilton Parish Church is holding a spring concert with the St John’s Singers providing the entertainm­ent on Friday, March 9, at 7.30pm. Admission £5, including refreshmen­ts, tickets are available from the forum cafe or pay at the door.

St John’s Centre, Book Corner, and Chapel are open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm.

Blantyre Livingston­e Memorial Parish Church

We will join St Andrew’s congregati­on to celebrate Holy Communion in St Andrew’s Parish Church at 10am on Sunday, March 4. The Rev Murdo Macdonald will lead us in worship. Please note no morning worship at Livingston­e Memorial. Bible study group will meet on Sunday, March 4, at 6.30pm in Livingston­e Memorial Church. All welcome to attend.

Kirk Session will meet on Monday, March 5, at 7pm. The guild will meet on Tuesday, March 6, at 7pm. The topic is Glasgow dance halls – John Walker. All welcome to attend. Hi-lows singing group will meet on Wednesday, March 7, at 7pm– 8.15pm in the church. If you enjoy singing, please come along and join us. Sporting memories group will meet on Wednesday, March 7, at 7.30pm– 9pm in the small hall. Our speaker Bill Lowe will talk about Blantyre Vics. This group meets fortnightl­y. Sanctus service ‘The Psalms of Thanksgivi­ng’ will be held on Sunday, March 11 in St Andrew’s Parish Church. Refreshmen­ts will be served at 6.30pm and the service will commence at 7pm. All welcome to attend.

St Machan’s Parish Church

Worship on Sunday, March 3, starts at 11am and will be led by Rev Alastair Mckillop. During worship holy communion will be celebrated. The Sunday fun club runs from 11am in the church hall. This is an hour of fun for children from three years to 11 years. The older children have their own programme to follow whilst the younger ones have crafts, songs, stories and a short film. The St Machan’s walking group will meet on Tuesday, March 5, at 10.30am behind the church in Marshall Street.

St John The Baptist Church, Uddingston

The next baptismal talk for parents and sponsors is on Monday, March 5, at 7.30pm in the small hall.

One place is available for the pilgrimage to Medjugorje on August 30-September 6 and two places are available between June 13-20.

The cost is £599 for a week half board. Also one place is available for the pilgrimage to Rome on May 14-20, cost is £860.

On Monday the Padre Pio prayer group meet after the 9.30am mass and a silent prayer vigil for life is held from 8pm to 9pm. The SVDP meet at 6.30pm on Tuesdays and the RCIA meet at 7.30pm in the small hall.

On Wednesdays the divine mercy group meet at 3pm in the oratory and a prayer and praise group from 8pm9pm. AA meeting at 8pm in the hall. The prayer garden is open Mondays to Saturdays 10am-5pm. Church cleaning is on Friday mornings after mass if anyone would like to help. Sunday Masses: vigil 4.30pm, 10am, noon, 6pm.

Weekday Mass: 9.30am daily. Confession­s: Saturday 9am - 9.25am and after vigil mass. Stations of the cross: Friday 7pm.

Hamilton United Reformed Church

On March 4, our service will be held at the usual time of 11.30am and be led by Reverend Gordon W. Smith, retired URC minister. Tea will be served in the hall afterwards and a warm welcome be given to all. Please remember donations for the Hamilton Food Bank.

Hamilton West Parish Church

Our next service will be on Sunday, March 4, at 11.30 am and will be led by our interim moderator the Reverend Alasdair Gordon, all are welcome to come and join us, come early and enjoy a tea or coffee before the service starts. All organisati­ons are in full swing new members will always be made welcome.

The 2002 club meet on Monday night March 5, the night entertainm­ent is to be a beetle drive.

Dalserf Church

Our Boys’ Brigade meet this evening, Thursday, March 1, in Rorison and again on Thursday, March 8. Sunday worship on Sunday, March 4, in Dalserf at 11.30am and again at Rorison Church, Ashgill at 2.30pm. The Sacrament of the Lord’s supper will take place at both services. Both services will be conducted by the Reverend John Stevenson. Choir meets in Dalserf at 10.30am. Bible study group meet on Monday, March 5, at 11am in Hamilton Hall. Girls’ Brigade also meet on Monday, March 5, in Rorison Church, Ashgill. Boys’ Brigade meet again on Thursday, March 8 in Rorison Church, Ashgill.

Hamilton Baptist Church

On Friday (March 2) at 7.30pm the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigades are hosting “A Family of Brass” in the church. This will be a fund raising concert featuring all three of the bands from the Coalburn Silver Band Family and their percussion academy as well as some special guests performing from both brigades.

The services at 10.45am and 6.30pm on Sunday (March 4) will be led by the senior pastor, David Wilson. His text for the morning service will be Judges 14 verses 1 to 20. After the morning service, two members of the congregati­on will be available to pray with anyone feeling the need of prayer. Light refreshmen­ts will be served in the halls after the morning service and everyone is encouraged to join in this time of informal fellowship. The guest speakers at the senior citizens’ meeting on Monday, March 5, at 2pm to 3pm will be Walter and Ishbel Stevenson.

The Hamilton Soundroute­s Singers rehearsal on Tuesday, March 6, will be in the church hall as usual. The next “Messy Church” will be held on Saturday (March 10) from 3 to 5pm. The church has opened a Youtube Channel which will be showing both live and recorded church services – search on Youtube for “Hamilton Baptist Church”. Quarter Parish Church

On Sunday our morning worship commences at 9.45am, please come along and join us in our worship. After worship there will be a welcoming cup of tea. Come through to the hall and join us.

On Friday our Friendship Lunch Club continues at 12.30pm in the hall and after lunch we celebrate the World Day of Prayer. We welcome you to join us for lunch and also take part in the World Day of Prayer. We look forward to seeing you.

Hamilton Old Parish Church

Our Sunday service is at 10.45am with worship being led by Rev Ross Blackman. Creche and Sunday live over in the halls for our younger members during the service. Enjoy fellowship over a tea or coffee in the halls after the service.

Today, Thursday come along to our film club at 1.30pm and see what’s showing on the big screen today. Bible study continues on Thursday evening at 8pm in the manse. Members of the finance committee are reminded that there is a meeting at 7pm on Monday.

Also on Monday we have the badminton club at 7pm and the Saffronhal­l Singers at 7.30pm. Tuesday afternoon at 1pm our decoupage group meet in the session room. Later in the day we have the brownies at 6.15pm, banner group at 7.30pm and the old kirk dancers at 7.45pm. Our guild AGM and projects update is at 2pm on Wednesday.

All sections of the Boys’ Brigade meet from 5.30pm on Wednesday evening with the choir meeting at 7pm. Also on Wednesday, March 7, there is a meeting at 5pm for anyone who would like to help out behind the scenes in the Passion Play.
