Robbo hails battlers

-

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson hailed his side’s character after they battled to a 1-0 win over Dundee at Dens Park.

The game was almost a mirror image of Motherwell’s 1-0 defeat to Killie the previous Saturday, with the visitors scoring the winner with their only shot on target.

Craig Tanner’s 33rd-minute strike was enough to take the points back to Lanarkshire, and Robinson was delighted with what he saw.

He said:“i think Dundee are a very good side, it’s a tough, tough game here.

“They’re a real handful and at times we lacked composure on the ball when we could actually have killed the game.

“There is lots we can improve on, but in terms of character and organisation I’ve got to give them top marks.

“If I was a fan going back down the road, knowing that people are putting that badge on, throwing themselves to the ground, tackling, heading, putting their bodies on the line to win for Motherwell, I’d be very, very happy.

“We can play a lot better than that on the ball, but when you have games like that, you come to places like this, you have to show real resilience, and that’s what we did.”

Tanner continued his amazing record of having scored in every game against Dundee this season when he sidefooted home Curtis Main’s cut-back in 33 minutes.
