St Cuthbert’s Primary School pupils hear about career options

-

Youngsters at St Cuthbert’s Primary School learnt more about working life during a World of Work project.

Pupils, who had heard from a range of presenters including Police Scotland and G4S, rounded off the week with a visit from MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse, Christina Mckelvie.

The invite to Ms Mckelvie came after senior St Cuthbert’s pupils visited The Scottish Parliament to receive a tour and learn more about the iconic building.

The SNP representative gave the pupils an overview of a day in the life of an MSP.

Following the presentation, Ms Mckelvie held a question and answer session with the pupils.

She said: “Hearing and talking to the pupils of St Cuthbert’s was an incredible joy, and I thank the teachers and staff for organising such an exciting event.

“Preparing the pupils for the ‘world of work’ is a vital tool as they leave primary school and begin their journey to secondary school and onwards.

“It’s clear to see that the leadership, thoughtfulness and dynamism of the staff is having a real positive impact on the pupils – who didn’t hold back in their questioning!

“The pupils of St Cuthbert’s are a real credit to their school, their families and to the wider community and deserve special recognition for their attention, focus and ability to learn during their ‘world of work’ week.”
