Choir’s concerts are just the ticket Chorus of approval for shows in Paterson church
Stonehouse Male Voice Choir’s two-day annual concert has been hailed a success.
Members, led by musical director Gordon Millar and accompanist Lynsey Hamilton, gathered for the shows at Paterson UF Church on Thursday and Friday (March 15 and 16).
On the opening night, the audience was treated to a fantastic performance by Stonehouse Primary School’s senior choir, who were guests of the male voice choir.
They performed four pieces on their own – Dark Island, Loch Lomond, Scots Wha Hae and Touch the Sky – and three pieces combined with the male voice choir – Sing, a Gary Barlow number, I Will by Paul Mccartney and finished with The World In Union. It was a terrific performance and enjoyed by all.
The school soloists were Carrie Millar, Elliot Millar and Katy Sloan. At the end of the concert a few young men from the school choir approached Gordon and asked if they were old enough to join the male voice choir.
The following night, a traditional concert was held with choir members performing solo pieces between each set.
Hugh Grant, the choir’s assistant conductor, made a passionate plea for any male audience members who want to join a choir to go along to the first practice on September 4 in Paterson UF Church, where they would receive a very warm welcome especially if they are Tenors.
