Top curler award

-

The Avondale Heather Curling Club recognised one of their longest serving members at the annual prizegiving dinner.

Willie Frame received a Royal Caledonian Curling Club (RCCC) medal to recognise 50 years of curling and membership.

He started curling in his early 20s with Hamilton and Thornyhill Curling Club and progressed quickly through the ranks, demonstrating his real understanding of tactics.

Willie played at Scottish, European and World championships as well as in all the ice rink and club competitions and was part of the first Scottish team to win the European championships.

Some years later, he joined Avondale Heather Curling Club and to this day thoroughly enjoys the competitive as well as the social side of curling.

He moved into coaching some younger members, including some skips who now play and are winning regularly in the Heather.

Willie’s entire immediate and extended family curl.
