Pervert jailed for encouraging girl to send sex pics

Beast befriended 10-year-old in online game

A man has been locked up for four years after he got a 10-year-old girl to send him pictures and videos of herself performing sex acts.

Sean Timlin bombarded the youngster with messages, telling her: “Come on dirty girl. I want to be your dad and you’re my sexy little daughter.”

Timlin, who was 17 at the time, also sent the girl images of himself masturbating, Hamilton Sheriff Court heard.

His sick behaviour was discovered when the girl’s mum checked her daughter’s phone and found disgusting messages.

Timlin, now 20, of Farm Terrace, Hamilton, admitted getting the girl, who lives in the north of England, to perform sexual acts on various occasions between October and December 2015.

And Timlin, who also admitted downloading and sharing indecent images of children, befriended his victim through an internet game.

Sheriff Alasdair Macfadyen told him: “You inveigled your way through an online game into her life and knew she was only 10.

“Then, over a period of time, you subjected her to verbal and visual sexual abuse and invited her, then psychologically intimidated her, to perform sexual acts which were filmed and photographed for your gratification.

“You also subjected her to, and invited her to use, sexual language which a 10-year-old girl should not be aware of. The effect of such conduct on such a young child can only be devastating.”

The sheriff said detention was the only possible sentence given the gravity of the charges, adding: “Counselling and courses to deter you from further such offending should be available to you while in custody.”

Timlin will also be on the sex offenders’ register for an indefinite period.

Michael Mcintosh, prosecuting, said Timlin contacted the girl by sending her messages via a computer game she was playing.

The fiscal said: “He told her he was 17 and she told him her name and age. The accused said he didn’t care that she was only 10.

“They began talking in general terms and exchanged mobile phone numbers. She stored the accused’s number under the name Alysha, so if her mum checked her phone she wouldn’t see a boy’s name and be suspicious.”

Mr Mcintosh said there was then a “fairly intense period of communication” between the two by text and through What’s App and Kik Messenger.

He added: “The messages became sexual in tone and the accused asked the girl to send her sexual images.

“To begin with she sent him pictures of her naked breasts and he sent her pictures and videos of himself masturbating.

“During the conversations that followed he regularly asked her to video herself performing sexual acts and she recalls sending him nine or 10 such videos.”

Mr Mcintosh said the language used by Timlin throughout his contact with the girl was “graphic”.

The fiscal said: “At another point the girl made reference to her mum being awake and being worried she might detect something, but the accused replied ‘Just do it,’ ‘Come on baby,’ ‘It will be ok’ and ‘Trust me’.”

When police searched Timlin’s home they found 23 indecent photos of the girl, all of which appeared to have been taken by her, as well as 19 graphic videos of her.

Officers also recovered dozens of indecent images of girls aged as young as three on various electronic devices.

There was also evidence that he had been sharing images with fellow paedophiles, including one of the 10-year-old girl, though not an indecent image of her.

Defence agent Andy Iles said first offender Timlin’s conduct has “devastated” his family. He described his client’s childhood as “very difficult”.

Mr Iles said Timlin had been “frank” in his dealings with social workers regarding the case and was “clearly remorseful”.

The solicitor added: “This case will have a long lasting effect on his life. In many ways he will be defined by this moment.”
