It was another busy week on the Hamilton Advertiser’s Facebook page.

This week, many people expressed their anger after a picnic table was torched in Hamilton’s Bothwell Road Park.

Members of BRAG – Bothwell Road Action Group – were devastated to discover the only table in the area was completely destroyed.

Colette Ross said: “constant vandalism in this park, yet they never seem to catch them. Baffling!”

Leeanne Deuchar added: ”scum. Loved this park.”

Rosalind Elliott posted: “should look into installing the metal picnic benches, but it is terrible that you have to try and look at alternatives to combat mindless vandalism!”

Paul Ford asked: “why would anybody do this, what’s the thought process?”

Many people commented on TV star Calum Best being announced as a judge for the best dressed lady competition at Hamilton Park Racecourse.

Anne Mckenzie said: “not exactly Dermot O’leary.”

Jane Douglas posted: “tickets already ordered.” Tracey Kerr added: “can’t wait.” Another story many of our readers commented on was about plans for some Hamilton schools to pilot holiday lunch clubs during the summer break.

Joanne Mcinally said:“this is amazing.”

Lorna Munro posted: “i don’t struggle to feed my kids, but struggle for child care over summer holidays as I work. So if my child goes hungry due to lack of income I also receive the support with child care! It’s a joke! Kids should not go hungry and neither should parents go without food to ensure their kids eat. Also parents who work to try and provide should not be punished and go unsupported, as they can be struggling too. This world is all wrong! Makes me sad!”

Karyn Rose Mitchell said: “if they’re going to do this they should do it properly. They’re willing to give free school breakfasts, which is brilliant news, but they also need to follow it through and not rely on topping up support staff with the good will of parent council parents to supervise the children. Maybe try advertising for breakfast club staff and bring more jobs to South Lanarkshire.”

Kirsty Cumberland added: “fingers crossed for breakfast club.”

Steph Mccallum said: “excellent.”
