Get it right and look tan-fastic on your big day

-

White is not the only colour that’s front and centre on a wedding day – during my bridal trials I’m often asked for my advice on tanning.

And there are a few important pieces of advice that I’d really like brides to bear in mind.

The first is to avoid sun beds like the plague. They leave your skin looking dull, lifeless and dry, with lines of dehydration.

This is the hardest skin to work with because it works against everything you are trying to do to make it glow.

It absorbs the make-up leaving the skin looking flat, plus it seems to ping eye shadow right off because it has a film of dehydration on it.

It also seems to exaggerate any open pores which isn’t a look you want on your wedding day.

I can tell if a girl has been using a sun bed the minute I look at her face. So, what is the alternative if you are feeling a bit pale and uninteresting?

There are lots ... but you are going to have to fake it!

The aim for any bride is glowing, sun kissed, beautiful skin.

We achieve that by putting as much moisture as we can into it in the run up to the wedding by drinking lots of water, eating foods with high water content and using hydrating products.

When it comes to applying your tan a couple of nights before the big day, your skin is going to give it the best base possible to keep that glow.

My favourite face self tanner is Xen Tan - anti-ageing face tanner.

In tanning products that say anti-ageing it tends to mean it’s more moisturising. There will be no dry patches, no tightness, just a beautiful natural looking glow.

The body tan is amazing too, but don’t change your skin colour too much, embrace the natural you on your big day.
