Milton view Bring your wellie boots!

Dear Editor Yet again the Hamilton Advertiser has highlighted a problem concerning the “puddle jumping at the Top Cross,” although I have to say that the photo must have been taken on a day of light rainfall as on many occasions the corner was virtually impassable.

I first complained about this problem on January 31.

Nothing seemed to be happening, so I phoned again on March 6 and was told that remedial work was scheduled to be carried out.

There was no improvement so I wrote on March 15.

I received a reply on March 29 informing me that “these works were completed on March 13, 2018”.

The problem had not been resolved so I visited the roads and transportation services offices on April 5 to be told that the problem would be resolved.

There was no improvement so I phoned the offices on April 11 but was told that the person I required to speak to was not available but that I would get a call back.

In this call back I was assured that the drains would be properly cleaned and remedial work would be done.

On April 16 the lake reappeared so I phoned the offices on April 17 and requested a call back.

I was informed that the issue had been resolved by cleaning the drains, but that a long-term solution required a complete redesign of the drainage system at this locus.

If it rains, those who visit Hamilton Town Centre should remember to wear their wellie boots.
