Kipre’s the hero for ’Well

-

Motherwell secured Premiership football for another season with a 2-1 win over Dundee at Fir Park.

After Genseric Kusunga had given the visitors the lead, goals from Ryan Bowman and Cedric Kipre meant the points were staying in Lanarkshire.

Boss Stephen Robinson was pleased with his side’s character but was aware of the inexperience that nearly allowed Dundee to snatch a point late on.

He said:“we came from behind, which was a big aspect of it. I thought we conceded the goal slightly against the run of play.

“We came back and went 2-1 up and I thought we were comfortable. Then in the last 15 minutes we made some naive decisions, we were cavalier, and that left us a bit open.

“That probably is what we have to improve on as a young side, but the character of the boys was great.”

Dundee nearly scored straight from kick-off but Craig Wighton slid his shot wide.

Simon Murray and Steven Caulker went close before Caulker’s header caused havoc and Kusunga bundled the ball in on 23 minutes.

Motherwell levelled five minutes later when Charles Dunn headed a corner into Bowman’s path and he slammed it past Elliott Parish.

Seven minutes into the second half Motherwell worked a free-kick down the left and Chris Cadden’s cross was headed in by Kipre.
