Community celebration

- Kirsten Mcstay

A ‘Volunteer Recognition and Celebration’ event has been organised next month in the Hillhouse and Earnock Community Centre.

Community Links (South Lanarkshire) are teaming up with thousands of charities and voluntary organisations across Scotland in a celebration of the vital contribution made by volunteers.

This year the theme is ‘Volunteering for All,’ which organisers hope will provide organisations with an opportunity to highlight that volunteering is for everyone.

From June 1-7, Volunteers’ Week Scotland will see a huge range of events take place in communities all over the country, from small awards ceremonies to large celebratory gatherings.

A ‘Volunteer Recognition and Celebration’ event has been arranged by Community Links in Hillhouse.

The purpose of the event is to highlight the incredible hard work and dedication from people who regularly give up their own time to help support community projects. There is also an opportunity to find out more about the voluntary opportunities available in the area.

Join the team on June 7, between 11am-3pm at Hillhouse Community Hub, Hillhouse and Earnock Community Centre, for a whole range of activities.

African dancing and music provided by Heart Of Africa UK, a selection of delicious food from across the globe, the swap shop and the volunteer information drop-in are just some of activities on the day.

The Hillhouse Community Group will also be hosting their AGM at 2pm which will give everyone in Hillhouse, Udston and Burnbank an opportunity to find out about the group’s significant achievements over the last 12 months.

Everyone is welcome. To find out more, contact Community Links on (01698) 827583 or email: paul@communitylinkssl.co.uk.
