Lots of new things to try

There are plenty of classes on for over-50s who want to try something new.

Fairhill Lifestyles Centre in Neilsland Road hosts singing classes every Wednesday from 3pm to 4pm.

The Lightburn Elderly Associatio­n Project (LEAP) has expanded into the area and is able to deliver the classes thanks to funding from the People’s Health Trust Health Engage Fund.

Attendance at these classes requires registrati­on in advance. You can do so by contacting Catriona on 01698 907004 or emailing catriona@leap-project.co.uk.

LEAP also has a number of other classes in the area during the week.

On Mondays there is laptop computer and internet class for beginners in Hamilton South Church, Mill Road, from 10am to noon.

Later that day, there is an ipad class for beginners in the church from 1pm to 3pm.

On Thursdays there is a smartphone and tablet class in Hamilton South Church from 10am to noon.

Later that day, there will is a laptop computer and internet class in Fairhill Lifestyles from 1pm to 3pm.

Also on Thursdays, new age kurling and carpet bowls takes place in Hamilton South Church from 1pm to 3pm.

And on Fridays there is smartphone and tablet class in Fairhill Lifestyles from 10.15am to 12.15pm.
