Couple set for their big day

Sheryl is a big fan of the Royals

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to tie the knot this weekend – but a Coalburn couple are also preparing to say ‘I do’.

Sheryl Graham (26) and her fiancé Christopher Steele (27) are set to marry on Saturday at a glittering ceremony and reception at the Lochside Hotel and Spa.

The soon-to-be Mr and Mrs Steel got engaged in Berlin in 2015 and months later they began planning a wedding for May 2018, but little did they know at the time they would be sharing their special date with one of the world’s mostanticipated weddings.

Sheryl spoke to the Advertiser and said: “I really take an interest in the Royals. When I heard that Harry and Megan were set to have their wedding on the same day as us, I couldn’t believe it!”

And she joked: “Part of me was a little gutted, as I would like to have watched it, and my bridesmaids even joked that I would be carrying around a portable TV on the day so that I could.

“It would be interesting to see what Meghan’s dress is like. We will probably catch some of it while we are getting ready, and probably on a live Facebook feed throughout the day. It’s nice to be able to say you shared your big day with the Royals!”

Sheryl’s bridesmaids Jenna and Amanda contacted the Advertiser to tell us how much the bride-to-be loved the Royal Family.

They said: “Sheryl has even hinted that she plans to sneak off on the day to catch the royal wedding on TV in all its glory!”

Sheryl’s other bridesmaid, her sister Nicola Montgomery, is also due to give birth any day now.

And Sheryl said: “My sister Nicola’s due date is three days after the wedding. It is all happening in the month of May!

“I am feeling so excited. We have had three years to prepare and it’s finally here this weekend!”
