New bid to raise cash for charity Mariecurie

- Kirsten Mcstay

Supporters are kick-starting a new fundraising group in Hamilton to support the work of terminal illness charity Marie Curie.

They are holding an informal drop-in session on Tuesday, May 29, in St Mary’s Church, Auchingramont Road.

You can go along between 9.30am and 12.30pm, then from 6pm to 9pm.

A team from Marie Curie will be there. Margaret Mowat, a volunteer with the charity and a member of Hamilton Soroptimists, said: “Being a part of the new Hamilton fundraising group for Marie Curie is really exciting.

“Hamilton has so much potential to support such a wonderful charity and I’m hoping we can make a huge difference and raise lots of cash.”

Marie Curie have a number of fundraising campaigns such as the Great Daffodil Appeal, Blooming Great Tea Party and other yearly collections.

The charity help people living with a terminal illness and their families make the most of the time they have together by delivering expert hands-on care, emotional support, research and guidance.
