All systems go for great Larkhall Gala

The crowds are set to gather this Saturday in Larkhall as the town gears up for the gala day.

Following the success of last year’s event, Larkhall Gala Day committee have been busy fundraisin­g and organising the big day on Saturday.

All floats, groups and individual­s taking part in this year’s parade will meet at Duke Street park at 10.45am to assemble and for the best dressed float, buggy and person competitio­n judging to take place.

The parade will start at noon after the gala court have visited the residents of Mcwhirters House care home at 10.45am.

The main event will take place at the grounds of Larkhall Academy, where there will be a selection of stalls with local vendors and a stage area where local acts will be performing.

There will be a tearoom and a toddler play area with Zoolab inside the leisure centre.

Gala secretary Eve Malina said: “This year we are offering all-day wristbands for £5 which give unlimited access and unlimited play at an outside inflatable­s area in the Larkhall Academy sports field and Mugga.

“This area includes archery, speed cage, large bouncy castle, fun run, medium slide, giant slide, two-lane bungee run and laser tag.

“Wristbands are available to buy direct from the Larkhall Gala Day Committee by contacting our Facebook page.”
