DEVOTIONAL

-

Just over a week ago I had the privilege of attending the concert presentation by the Children’s African Choir at the Old Parish church in Hamilton.

It was a joy to see the radiant expressions on the children who have been saved from horrendous backgrounds.

They were all orphans, some because of war, and some because of widespread AIDS and illness in their country.

I watched them so happy and joyful despite what they had been through and it reinforced to me again the difference that Jesus Christ can make in lives today.

I was especially captivated by one young girl who began to sing the song;‘ no Longer Slaves!’ Here are some of the lyrics of the song: ‘from my mother’s womb you have chosen me, love has called my name.’

I watched in wonder and awe as this girl who had no mother was able to sing that ‘god’s love had called her name.’ the lyrics continued: ‘i’ve been born again into your family, your blood flows through my veins.’

This girl may have lost all her earthly family, yet God accepted her into His family.

She had lost everything in this world, yet gained everything for the next world. Her gain can become our gain too, the same God that loved her and changed her life can do the same for us. Call on Him and He will become our Heavenly Father too.
