Nicholas needs a financial boost

-

Hamilton’s Nicholas Smith will try to win his 100th trampolining and double trampolining medal in Birmingham next month – but he needs help.

The Silvertonhill 16-year-old (left), from Aspire Trampoline Academy, which trains in Larkhall, will attempt the landmark medal when he represents Scotland at the Regional Team Finals at the Barclaycard Arena from June 15-17.

The competition boasts an entry of more than 400 competitors.

Nicholas’s dad Norrie said: “Since entering his first competition at the age of four, Nicholas has amassed a total of 99 medals.

“This includes several British and Scottish titles. He has also represented Scotland in the Home Nations and Regional Team finals for the last four years.

“He was the first to win back-to-back golds, helping Scotland to retain their position as the Team DMT champions last year.”

The cost of attending these events is proving to be prohibitive, as travel and accommodation needs to be paid for.

It’s also expensive to acquire new equipment to enable Aspire gymnasts to train on the same apparatus that is used in major events.

If anybody is in a position, or knows of any company, firm or individual who would like to help them to achieve this goal, Norrie can be contacted on 07941 476039 or emailing norriesmith@ outlook.com.
