SEAN BRINGS THE SUN TO BLANTYRE
Television weatherman Sean Batty delighted the crowds at Blantyre Old Parish Church’s summer fete on Saturday.
The TV personality was on hand to officially open the fete, pose for selfies with the revellers and crown this year’s Gala queen Holly Thomson.
Holly was joined by her attendants Jessica Ross and Sydney Hay whom all looked radiant in their ‘royal’ summer dresses.
More than 250 people attended this year’s event in the summer sun which saw stalls galore, face painting, dancers, a tea room, burgers, bouncy castle and a performance from the Last of the Summer Wine Pipe Band.
Organisers told the Advertiser that they would like to thank Mr James Mortimer and his wife Rena for once again sponsoring the popular event, which raised £3105 towards church funds.
Sean told the Advertiser: “It was a pleasure to be invited along to Blantyre Old Parish Church summer fete for the second time on Saturday.
“The crowds were in full swing and it was lovely to meet the locals.
“A huge thank you to Billy Gallacher and the church for inviting me along and making part of their day. Their hospitality was fantastic.”
Church spokesman Billy Gallacher added: “A huge thank you to Sean Batty for coming along to our annual summer fete and crowning our lovely queen, Holly.
“Sean did not disappoint and made a lot of people very happy on Saturday posing gladly for photographs with his legion of fans. He even brought the sun along with him!
“Thank you also to our main sponsor once again, Mr James Mortimer, as well as Hastie Cars, Mac Cars, Last of the Summer Wine Pipers, Dan Rodgers who supplied the burgers and goodies, John Carrigan, the stall holders, tea room ladies and everyone who donated in some way.”
