Fitness class raise pulses and cash

Money added to couple’s charity push

- Kirsten Mcstay

Members of the Fatburn Extreme class raised over £2000 for charity Bloodwise.

The group decided to raise money for the charity in honour of friends Jude and Nigel Irwin from Earnock, who have been avidly raising money for Bloodwise since it became a charity extremely close to their heart.

Nigel (47) was diagnosed with a rare form of non-hodgkin lymphoma in November 2015.

Since then Jude, Nigel and their son Joshua (10) have been on a mission to raise money and awareness for Bloodwise.

Led by instructor Louise Mcculloch, the group, who meet in Blantyre every week, decided to host a social event of a Tinto walk, followed by some food and wine at the Cornerstone.

On asking other ladies if they would like to join them, the party of six grew to 19, and when it was discussed doing the walk for a local charity, that’s where Bloodwise came in. Most of the mums and girls at the class know of Jude and Nigel’s story, as they live in the surrounding area and their children go to the same school as Jude’s son Joshua.

The decision was made to help this worthwhile charity and add to the fabulous charity work Jude has already been doing.

In addition to this fundraiser, instructor Louise also arranged, with fellow instructor Barry Hope, a double Fatburn class which will include a session of Gymfit, with the proceeds going to the fund.

To date the fundraising total has climbed to £2132.

Last month Jude also ran the London Marathon and raised more than £16,000.
