Happy birthday to Nan!
To celebrate the 100th birthday of Nan Brown, South Lanarkshire’s Provost Councillor Ian Mcallan and Deputy Lieutenant John Mckenzie joined the birthday girl and her family and friends to offer congratulations.
Nan, from Ashgill, was delighted to receive a card and framed scroll direct from Buckingham Palace and flowers from South Lanarkshire Council to mark her very special day.
Nan – whose formal name is Anne - was born on June 21, 1918, in Ashgill.
Nan had eight brothers and sisters: Alex, Daniel, John, Duncan, Mattie, Agnes, Gracie and Janet.
Nan met her sweetheart Archie and they married and went on to have five children together – Archie, Daniel, John, Alex and Anne.
Archie served in the Cameronians during the war and then joined Lanarkshire Fire Brigade whilst Nan continued her role as devoted housewife and mother raising their five children.
The children went on to have their own children and Nan now has 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
When Nan was younger she enjoyed cycling and going for runs in the car with her family.
Nan and her sisters Gracie and Mattie were known around Larkhall and Cambuslang where they enjoyed going to the Bingo and shopping.
And Nan also likes to watch football and wildlife programmes on the TV.
