County sides gear up

The new West Region League format kicks off on Saturday July 28, with a list of Central League Cup ties covering the opening two weekends.

The first league fixtures in the Premiership, Championship, League One and League Two are scheduled for Saturday, August 4.

Larkhall’s opening fixture in the Premiership is at home to Irvine Vics.

In League One, the opening day fixtures are: Blantyre Vics v Royal Albert; Maryhill v Bellshill; Shotts v Greenock and Wishaw v Yoker.

League Two opens with Ardeer Thistle v Newmains; Carluke Rovers v Ashfield; Forth v Johnstone Burgh; Lanark United v Vale of Leven; St Anthony’s v Lesmahagow and Vale of Clyde v Thorniewood.

Meanwhile, a series of pre-season friendlies have been lined up, which include:

Saturday, July 7: Carluke v Mill United AFC; Wigtown and Bladnoch v Forth.

Saturday, July 14: Blantyre Vics v Lanark Utd; Carluke v Bellshill.

Monday, July 16: Blantyre Vics v Newton Vale Amateurs.

Wednesday, July 18: Dundee Downfield v Bellshill; Auchinleck Talbot v Blantyre Vics.

Saturday, July 21: Larkhall Thistle v Abbey Vale (annual Thomas Jamieson Memorial Shield); Bellshill v Dundee Downfield; Blantyre Vics v East Kilbride Thistle (12pm); Carluke Rovers v Threave Rovers; Girvan v Thorniewood.

Monday, July 23: Blantyre Vics v Irvine Meadow; Thorniewood United v Bo’ness.

Wednesday, July 25: Larkhall Thistle v Kirkintilloch Rob Roy; Upper Annandale v Thorniewood (at Moffat).
