A former Hamilton beauty queen is set to put on her dancing shoes to wow fashion guru Gok Wan at a charity dance event.

Nicola Creen has been selected to take part in Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland’s first ever Strictly Come Prancing event at Glasgow’s Double Tree Hilton Hotel on November 10.

Gok Wan, host of television’s How To Look Good Naked show, will be on the judging panel alongside singing sensation Carol Laula, radio presenter James Smith and Clydebank dancing instructor April Stuart Macrae.

Nicola, who was crowned Miss Scotland Caledonia in 2012, is excited for the event and is polishing off her moves in the run-up to the competition.

The mum-of-two said: “I’ve done something similar for Maggie’s so it was through contacts in the industry I found out about the event.

“I noted my interest and was delighted to have been selected.

“I love dancing, and being able to combine that with helping a great cause is fantastic!

“My dance partner is Andrew Barry and we’re very excited about the whole journey as well as the final on November 10, in the Hilton hotel Glasgow, with Gok Wan as head judge.

“I also plan to host a fashion show to raise more cash for the charity.”

Saturday night fever is set to sweep through Glasgow’s Double Tree Hilton Hotel when 13 couples – including Heart Scotland radio presenters Paul Harper and Lynne Hoggan, as well as reality star Brian Matthews, formerly of GLOW – take to the dance floor to try to impress Gok Wan. The TV star will also be doing a DJ set after the competition.
