Mcd’s want to open 24 hours

Advertiser readers looked back in fondness as the University of the West of Scotland Almada Street, Hamilton campus shut its doors for the final time last week.

Former students who had studied there reflected on their years of learning at the university and shared their fond memories.

The closure comes as the University West of Scotland began their move to a new state-of-the-art £110million campus based in the Hamilton Technology Park last week.

The Almada building operated as a faculty for students for over 40 years,

Pamela Traynor said: “Good memories and made some best friends! Time for other people to make their own at the new place!”

Evelyn Orr said: “End of an era but memories galore! What a laugh we all had.” Mcdonald’s restaurant and take-away in Hamilton have applied for permission to open 24 hours a day.

The fastfood chain based in Douglas park Lane have lodged an applicatio­n with south Lanarkshir­e Council to make the change.

The store located close to Hamilton West train station currently only operates from 6am until midnight.

a spokespers­on for Mcdonald’s said:“we can confirm that we have submitted an applicatio­n to extend the opening hours at our Hamilton restaurant.

“We look forward to working with the council on our plans and creating further employment opportunit­ies.”
