Dave’s debut novel already a global hit

Author now has dream job

- Kirsten Mcstay

A Hamilton man has launched his first fiction novel last month after turning his dream into reality.

David Keachie, from Silvertonhill, started writing as a hobby but when he retired early last year, he decided to focus on his passion and began to write ‘The Inverannan Assignment’.

The novel is based around the story of a young journalist, Adam Darnow, who is assigned to the north of Scotland with two colleagues and instructions to produce an advertising piece for a Highland Estate.

Instead they run into conflict with the Estate owner, who may not be the altruistic benefactor he seems.

Set out fascinatingly with flashback chapters entwined with the main narrative, The Inverannan Assignment is a stunning, fast moving fusion of dark comedy, crime and mystery, keeping readers guessing to the end.

David (52) said: “The book has been out for about a month and has been really popular.

“It has been selling mainly in the UK, but also in US and Australia. It’s early days, but it’s really positive so far.”

The Inverannan Assignment is the first of three books by David and he is excited to see what the future holds for his writing.

He added: “If the book proves popular, which it seems to be, I plan to write another in the winter.

“I’ve plenty material already and some storylines drafted so that will keep me busy for some time.
