A fundraising party with a mix of pizza and ponies has raised hundreds for a Blantyre-based charity.

Family and friends of Margaret Campbell held a pizza party at West Sunnyside Equestrian in Quarter on Saturday, June 2 in her memory.

Over 120 people attended the event and friend of Margaret’s Anita Robinson, hailed the event a great success.

She said: “After successfully bidding for a pizza party at a previous charity event it was decided we would use this at an event and run a fundraiser in memory of our friend Margaret Campbell who was affected by multiple sclerosis.

“Our friend received a great deal of support and help from The Haven so we decided to donate part of the money raised to the charity.”

Scott Cunningham MBE, Haven fundraising officer said: “The event organisers really did think of everything with people enjoying making and eating their own pizza, face painting, a craft station, line dancing and much more.

“There was no excuse for anyone not to get involved and this showed in the incredibly generous donation of £1500 made to The Haven.

“Donations made in someone’s memory are very touching and ensure that others who may face similar times and who are affected by illnesses like MS can access vital support like Margaret.”

Anita added: “Everyone had a great day and the children in particular loved it.

“Fortunately the weather was kind and the rain stayed away.

“The girls on the yard were great and enjoyed telling stories about their precious horses and taking part in the handy pony event, which was an obstacle course with various challenges.

“We are delighted amount raised.” with the
