Join Team Haven for 2018 Kiltwalk
High hopes of boosting cash total in September
After a hugely successful Glasgow event, The Haven charity in Blantyre is aiming to make the 2018 Kiltwalk the most successful so far.
With over £24,000 raised this year to date, there are high hopes and targets for the upcoming event on Sunday, September 16.
Scott Cunningham MBE, Haven fundraising officer said: “Why not take in all the iconic sights that the capital city has to offer by joining Team Haven for the Kiltwalk in Edinburgh whilst raising funds to help support those affected by lifelimiting illness.
“There is a walk length for everyone: The Mighty Stride 24 miles, The Big Stroll 15.5 miles and The Wee Wander five miles. Why not get friends, family, children and even the dog involved?
“By joining Team Haven you will receive 50 per cent off your registration fee and free transport will be available to and from the event is available from all three Haven centres in Blantyre, Wishaw and Forth. HMRC Queensway House in East Kilbride, who have staff from across Lanarkshire, recruited a team to join approximately 100 walkers at the Glasgow event in April, raising a fantastic £4842.
Stuart Mcandrew HMRC Team Leader shares: “The Kiltwalk idea started when The Haven team were promoting it as a fundraising event outside our canteen. I was interested and thought I could talk a couple of my colleagues into coming along.
“Once a few team members learned about this challenge and the charity they demanded to be included and at that point I thought I would talk as many people into doing the Kiltwalk as I could!
“It was a fantastic team event, the weather on the day was great, 21 of us completed the 15 mile Big Stroll and we have raised well over £4500 for this great charity between us! We can’t wait to do it again next year with some of us aiming for The Mighty Stride next time.”
By getting involved and raising just £200 you would enable 10 people to have a relaxation therapy, reducing their stress and anxiety.
If you and your team raised £1000 you would help provide six months of bereavement support for a child, to help them cope with the complex emotions around family illness and death.
