Stuart still chasing WRC dream

-

Uddingston rally star Stuart Loudon will turn his attention back to motorsport this month, following a hectic period in the family business.

Loudon (30), a technician at the Tunnock’s factory, which is owned by his grandfather Boyd Tunnock, will be co-ordinating during the WRC Germany from August 17-19, in Turkey in September and Spain in October.

Working semi-professionally, Stuart is chasing the big break that could keep him away from biscuits and in the co-driver’s seat for some time to come.

Loudon worked as a coordinator at Cumbrian firm M-sport, helping the Fordsupported team clinch both the drivers’and manufacturers’ world titles.

He said:“being part of M-sport when we won the double last year was such a special feeling. It was difficult to go back to the co-ordinator’s role again this year, when things were so busy at Tunnock’s.

“I have a bit of an agreement with the family that when I turn professional as a co-driver, I will take a sabbatical from Tunnock’s and chase my dream to follow fellow Scottish world champion co-drivers Derek Ringer and Robert Reid.

“The world championship is everything I’m working towards and being back out in the sport from Rally Germany and then in Turkey and Spain is vital for me.

“I’m working in co-ordination and support, but I’m back out talking to the right people and reminding folk I’m still here.”
