Care home staff, residents and youngsters enjoy fun visit from Mccoo book author
Residents and the team at Hc-one’s Douglas View Care Home were over the moon when artist Steven Brown arranged a reading for his newly-illustrated book.
Steven Brown is the creator of the Highland cows Mccoos and has donated prints to a couple of care homes in Scotland, including Claremont in Ayr.
Last Friday Shirley Husband, the author of Nan Mccoo and Harris Mccoo, paid a visit to Douglas View to meet the residents and perform a private reading of the books.
Children from local nursery, Nursery Times, attended the event, which saw resident Helen Smith read from the new book as part of the launch. Helen said: “It was a great day and it was really lovely to see the children here.
“I spoke to Shirley who said she is writing the third Mccoo book and hopes to come back to visit us at our Christmas market in December.
“I can’t wait to see her again.” Mascot Harris Mccoo also made an appearance and was more than happy to have his photo taken with everyone.
Katy Jenks, Douglas View’s home manager, said: “The residents, children and the team at Douglas View enjoyed the day.
“Harris was a big hit, with everyone wanting their photograph taken with him! Thank you to Steven Brown for arranging this fantastic event.
“We are so honoured to have been a part of it.”
