- Staff reporter

Official figures have shown Hamilton Park Racecourse’s 2018 Ladies’ Night was its biggest ever – with almost 10,000 revellers descending on the racecourse for the hotly-anticipated fixture.

With ticket sales up 17 per cent on 2017, record-breaking entries to the Best Dressed Lady competition and a host of great action on and off the course, the venue pulled off its top performance of the season to date.

The EK East Kilbride Ladies’ Night saw performances from singer Heather Small and TV star and DJ Georgia “Toff” Toffolo, while Calum Best was a special guest judge for the evening, hosted by Capital Scotland’s Des Clarke and Amy Irons.

On the course, the ground-breaking Silk Series, aimed at changing attitudes in the sport, was a highlight of the race card, showcasing a host of talented female riders.

Vivien Currie, chief executive at Hamilton Park, said: “This year’s Ladies’ Night was truly record breaking.

“We attracted our biggest attendance ever for this fixture, with unprecedented advance ticket sales, the perfect blend of entertainment and racing, and the superb weather really taking the event to a new level.

“This adds to our definite winning streak this season, with locals and those from further afield arriving in their droves to take in the best of the racecourse, topped off with our recently awarded five-star visitor attraction status from Visit Scotland.

“This season’s success is testament to our significant investment in the racecourse, particularly over the last two years, and to the team’s tireless work to create and deliver a programme of racing and entertainment that cements our status as one of the leading venues in the country.

“We still have some fantastic fixtures to come in 2018, with our legendary Ladbrokes Lanark Silver Bell Racenight at the end of the month and not one but two thrilling events over the September weekend bringing the season to a close.

“We look forward to breaking more records before the year is out.”
