The Lafontaines set to headline top festival

- Kirsten Mcstay

The Lafontaines are delighted to be headlining Scotland’s best alternative music festival, Dirty Weekender.

Fresh from their UK and European tour supporting Don Broco, the Lanarkshire rockers have released their brand new single UP.

The upbeat, summer rap/rockinspired track “is about that feeling of optimism” explains frontman Kerr Okan.

He said: “It’s for the people who have taken a good few on the chin but refuse to go down. This was the easiest song I’ve ever written.”

Proving one of the most exciting bands emerging from Scotland, the four-piece deliver a unique sound that fuses the guitar swagger of Kasabian, with the edgy hip-hop delivery of The Streets and the electronic-pop undertones of Twenty One Pilots to create a style that pushes the boundaries of rock.

Taking place across four days in November (22– 25) at multiple venues in Ayrshire, The Lafontaines join an already packed line-up including headliners Liverpudlian heroes The Coral and Brit and Mercury Award nominated Jake Bugg – with many more to come.

Organised by MFM Events, The Dirty Weekender will be jam-packed with some of the most exciting music from around the UK and further afield, with double the number of acts on the bill from previous years – over 100 artists.

Kerr added: “I know nobody says this, but we’re genuinely looking forward to coming back to Killie. Since the days of our first gig at Dirty Martinis to playing Bakers, Kilmarnock was probably the first place in Scotland we managed to gather a wee following. For that they will always have a place in our hearts. Plus it’s class and we love all the folk that put it on as well.”

Tickets are priced from £60 for the full weekend and £29.50 for single days and are available to buy via Skiddle.
