All white for Eilidh
Another £14k goes to charity fund
Friends and family of Eilidh Mchugh celebrated her 24th birthday by raising more than £14,000 in her memory.
More than 200 people turned up to Eilidh’s Ladies Lunch at the Bothwell Bridge Hotel.
And an incredible £186,177 has now been raised for the Beatson Cancer Charity in Eilidh’s name.
The white-themed event was held last weekend, one day after what would have been her 24th birthday.
Eilidh’s name means ‘light’ in Gaelic, so everyone wore white outfits to reflect that on the day.
And Eilidh’s mum Elaine said: “We would like to thank all of you for supporting the second birthday lunch for Eilidh.
“Sincere thanks to all who have contributed to the auctions, table prizes and fashion show. There are far too many to mention individually, but the generosity has been overwhelming, you know what you mean to us.
“Thank you to Deja Elite Boutique for the fashion show and the entertainment by the Moonlighters who donated their services free of charge.
“Team Eilidh demonstrates kindness and compassion, walking by our side. We hope you will continue to support us in raising funds for Eilidh’s Beatson Tribute fund in memory of a precious daughter and sister. “Eilidh is your light wherever you are.” DJ Suzie Mcguire hosted the auction and Eilidh’s sister Kerry and pals performed a fashion show provided by Deja Elite Boutique in Hamilton, while The Moonlighters entertained the guests with a fantastic performance.
Everyone had an absolutely fantastic day remembering a special girl on her birthday.
This is the second birthday event held in Eilidh’s memory – last year raised £7500.
The student, who worked at Overtown Pharmacy, passed away in March 2017 after a very short battle with an aggressive form of cancer.
Her friends and family have been on a mission ever since to raise money in her name.
You can make a donation to Eilidh’s Beatson Fund by going to www. beatsontributefund.org and search for ‘Eilidh’s Fund’.
And the Eilidh Mchugh Scholarship Fund is nearing a selection stage. The Mchugh family hope to announce the details soon.
