Community rally to help fire victims

Crowdfunding plan to help businesses

- Shirley Bartynek

More than £1000 has been raised to help two Hamilton businesses hit by a huge fire last week.

The Hamilton community rallied last week and set up a Just Giving page to raise cash for the two firms, Sponge ‘n’ Hoses car wash and The Tyre Factory, who were affected by the blaze.

The Just Giving page reads: “As a community, we need your help in ensuring that the hard working women and men of Sponge ‘n’ Hoses car wash and the Tyre Factory don’t need to worry about where and when their next pay cheque is coming from until everyone can get back on their feet.

“These are our friends and family members, they have bills to pay and mouths to feed so we want to come together as a community and help one of Hamilton’s most loved local businesses.

“Please share and help us ensure our friends and families can live without having to worry about their place of work, this funding is for the people affected by the fire that has destroyed their workplaces so please help as much as you can.

“Every penny raised will go to these amazing people.”
