Sex offender is found with more sick images

Routine police check uncovered new pic collection

- Court reporter

A convicted sex offender was caught with child porn when police carried out a routine check at his Hamilton home.

Alistair Fisher had 33 indecent images of youngsters on his ipad, the town’s sheriff court heard on Friday. Fisher (37), a prisoner, admitted downloading the images at his flat in Windmill Road or elsewhere between June 11 and 14 this year.

Callum Forsyth, prosecuting, said the accused was on the sex offenders’ register and police officers from the offenders management unit went to his home to check that he was complying with the register’s requirements.

Mr Forsyth told the court: “He allowed them to carry out an inspection of his electronic devices. He went to his bedroom to collect these items, but officers were suspicious at the time he was taking to do this.

“Eventually an ipad and a phone were handed over. He was trying to delete something from his phone as he gave it to the police.

“He appeared to be anxious and when asked why, he said he had been looking at different kinds of pornography.”

Sheriff Shiona Waldron called for background reports and a risk assessment.

Sentence was deferred until October 1 and Fisher, who has been in custody since his arrest, will remain behind bars for the time being.

The sheriff will also consider a bid by the prosecution to have Fisher served with a sexual offences prevention order.

This would involve six stringent conditions designed to deter further offending.
